Whatever language they speak, our customers share a common goal: to repay their student loans successfully. Ray and his diverse team — many originally hailing from Mexico, Venezuela, Spain, and other places — help ensure nothing gets lost in translation for our Spanish-speaking customers.
Ray says, "Student loans can be complex, and some of our customers — understandably — would prefer to speak with us in their native language. We take time to counsel these individuals, help them with their questions and issues, and provide some education along the way. The more confident and informed our borrowers are, the more likely they are to succeed in school, in repaying their loans, and in life."
Ray and his team know this is a unique audience with unique needs. He notes, for example, that Spanish-speaking student loan borrowers may be targeted by fraudulent companies, selling expensive services that student loan servicers offer for free. "Language barriers can make these customers more susceptible to scams," Ray says. "So we do our best to educate them about their options and the many things Navient can do for them, as their servicer."
